Jim St. James — American Singer-Songwriter | Americana & Folk Artist | Live Performer
Best known for the #1 Roots Music Report single “Caroline.”
Jim St. James (American singer-songwriter, born in Gary, Indiana) is a touring Americana artist based in Northwest Indiana.
His song “Caroline” previously reached #1 on the Roots Music Report national chart, one of the primary benchmarks for Americana radio airplay. The single rose from #2 to #1 and remained on the chart for 12 consecutive weeks, reflecting sustained national programmer support. In addition to its radio success, "Caroline" also charted on SoundClick's independent music charts, reaching #94 in Acoustic Folk and #588 in the Overall Acoustic category among more than 142,000 songs.
The song ranked ahead of releases by established Americana and roots artists including Lyle Lovett, Jack Ingram, Pat Green, Jason Boland, Lori McKenna, and Walt Wilkins, among others backed by major or nationally distributed independent labels.
The achievement marked a defining milestone in his career, with continued live performances across the Midwest and a new series of digital releases and catalog remasters underway. Today, St. James continues to perform throughout the Midwest, hosts live music events through Java Jim's Music Theatre at The Green Room in LaPorte, Indiana, and is actively releasing remastered and newly recorded music from his catalog.
